Catch Up Time

On Friday 28 May, 2010:

  • my son turned 7
  • we were in the UK on a working holiday (me working, everyone else holidaying)
  • Sex and the City 2 was released in the UK cinemas

I endured a day at work away from my little boy who was celebrating his birthday AND listening to my work colleagues discuss what outfit they were going to wear to Sex and they City 2 that night, what drink they would have before, during and after the movie (at the fancy cinema they had booked tickets at) and speculating about what might happen in the movie. I so wanted to be going with them but my overwhelming desire was to spend every last minute of the day after I finished work with the birthday boy. So – long story short – the movie was released, the reviews were average, I was travelling with my husband and two sons for the next eight weeks so I never did get to see Sex and the City 2.

Then, late yesterday afternoon I ran (literally) into Big W to pick up a book for my son and what should be on display right in the front of the store – the ‘Sex and the City 2′ DVD – due for release TODAY. So last night I sat down with my husband and finally got to see the movie.

I had read all of the reviews so I had quite low expectations but overall I really enjoyed it.

I loved the fashion – of course. I want the emerald green, asymetrical, super maxi, flowing Halston dress Carrie was lounging around the house in at the end of the movie while she watched an old B&W movie with Big. (Wish I had a photo of this to post.) Ah! There were so many gorgeous outfits.

I also greatly appreciated the ‘Nanny in the wet t-shirt’ scene included, I’m sure, to encourage husbands to keep watching the movie with their wives! Don’t get me wrong I wasn’t loving the scene but I loved that it kept my husband watching the movie with me. Small pleasures!

I know everyone’s seen it and talked about it five months back – but I’m on board now and I want to join in the conversation! Plus – I’ve seen the 100 minutes of bonus material. Anyone else want to talk about Sex and the City 2?
